Spiagge bianche

Spiagge bianche, literallywhite beaches, is among the best-known beaches in Tuscany, situated on the coast between Rosignano Solvay and Vada. The sand is so candid that resembles the tropical one, even though the distinctive colour is caused by the presence of the Solvay industrial park.

Rosignano M.mo e Castiglioncello

Rosignano Marittimo, situated on a hill overlooking the sea, is a splendid medieval village with an ancient fortified castle at the top. . The original center of the enchanting town develops around the castle of old Etruscan origins.The layout of the walls includes the Church of Sant’Ilario, the two mighty circular towers of the Medici age and other historic buildings.
Going up through the characteristic alleys, with small and well-kept stone houses enriched by balconies full of flowers always in bloom, you reach the top where you are overwhelmed by the surrounding beauty. From the panoramic terraces you can admire landscapes of extraordinary splendour: the blue of the sea, the changing green of the hills and the palette of colours of the roofs, especially at sunset.
Entering the village through an enchanting arch you will find yourself in an archaic dimension in the middle of the fortification with a series of beautiful buildings, inside which you can find the Museo Civico Archeologico Palazzo Bombardieri with a splendid reconstruction of a Roman Domus and artefacts from the nearby necropolis of Castiglioncello and the port of Vada.

Continuing northwards along the seafront, through beautiful coves and characteristic volcanic cliffs, you reach Castiglioncello. . Vada is a tourist town dating back to the Lorraine period: it houses the imposing Renaissance structure of the watchtower and offers many services such as accommodation facilities, bathing establishments and a small port.
